Motion design and prototyping
Google Design advocate Mustafa Kurtuldu talks about the design system in developing a website. A design system is intended by the set of principles given to the designers to guide them in navigating a platform, environment or even an ecosystem and there are times where they get imposed rules that could be forced. Speaking of the architecture of websites when it comes to building it, there are three golden rules which were imposed by Vitruvius, a Roman architect and these rules are also applicable in this case and they are the following:
- durability (firmatis) – the building (or in this case, the website) should be robust and stay in good conditions
- utility (utilitas) – the building should be functional and useful for the people who are in it
- beauty (venustatis) – the building should be delightful and soulful
Designing a progressive web app
PWA (progressive web app) is a website with an app that has features such as ability to work offline, send you notifications and provides more seamless integration into the native features & behaviors of your phone & desktop. Some PWA also have UX in which they have some focused content on websites that let browsers browse when their network connection is unavailable or others allow interactive experiences to the users such as Spotify which allows them to play music even when they do not have connection whatsoever which then has lead people understand as to why sometimes a website doesn’t work on the train or in a tunnel.
